Spring Chinook are the best tasting salmon by far. This season starts on the Columbia and Willamette rivers in April and continues on in their tributaries into June.

This is predominantly "back bouncing" where you are always holding the rod and bouncing your bait in the strike zone waiting for the hungry salmon to gulp it down.

In May and June some of the most special fish in the Northwest become available in the
coastal rivers. These are trophy fish. Ocean fresh in cool water their fighting ability is the
only thing that will match their table quality. One coastal "springer" will start an addiction
that is hard to shake.
